In a world where mass production has become dominant, handmade jewelry is proving to be a precious treasure that transcends conventional commercial products. It is an art form that expresses itself through unique pieces that are created with care, attention to detail and love of craftsmanship.
At the Mengeš Jewelery Academy, we teach goldsmithing techniques (material preparation, filing, sawing, soldering, forging...) with which you can be completely independent in the production of various pieces of jewellery.
120-Hour Individual Jewelry-Making Course
Starting in October, we are launching a new 120-hour individual jewelry-making course at the Mengeš Jewelry Academy.
The course is intended for anyone who wants to learn the basics of jewelry making and gradually acquire the knowledge needed for increasingly independent work. No prior knowledge is required, so the program is also suitable for complete beginners.
Learning takes place primarily through practical work. During the 120 hours, participants will make 10 different pieces, with techniques complementing and building upon one another from module to module. This allows you to gradually develop greater precision, a better understanding of materials, and greater independence in your work.
Individual Approach
Because the course is conducted individually, the mentor can fully dedicate their attention to each participant, their pace of work, and their progress.
The basic program is structured into ten modules, but after approximately the fifth module, it can also be adapted according to the individual’s acquired knowledge, progress, and wishes.
The goal is not simply to make ten pieces of jewelry, but to understand the processes and techniques that you will later be able to use in your own creations.
What Is Included in the Price?
The price of the 120-hour course includes:
individual mentoring,
your own workstation,
use of all necessary jewelry-making tools and equipment,
materials for the work,
silver for making the pieces,
practical work throughout all 10 modules.
Program – 10 Modules
1. Making a Pendant
You will become familiar with basic hand tools and learn the fundamentals of material removal, sawing, filing, and shaping metal.
2. Making a Bracelet
The main focus is on soldering, proper preparation of joints, and precise connection of individual elements.
3. Making a Wedding Band
When making a classic wedding band, you will further develop your material-removal technique and learn how to properly work with a larger file and shape the surface of the ring.
4. Making a Ring
This is followed by more precise work with smaller files, with an emphasis on controlling the shape, symmetry, and precision.
5. Möbius Ring
You will make a special twisted ring shape in which several techniques mastered in the first modules are combined and further developed.
6. Tiffany Ring
You will make a setting for a stone, the ring base, and learn the precise preparation and assembly of individual parts into a complete piece.
7. Pearl Earrings
You will make a cup setting for a pearl, prepare a setting for smaller stones, and assemble smaller and more precise jewelry elements.
8. Pendant Made of Multiple Components
You will first make the individual elements yourself and then assemble them into the final piece. The focus is on precision, repeatability of the elements, preparation, and assembly.
9. Structural Pendant
You will make a cage-shaped pendant for a stone or, alternatively, make a pendant incorporating a coin. The module is primarily intended to develop an understanding of the construction of a piece and precise assembly.
10. Final Piece
The final module can be dedicated to a piece of your own choice or to making a pendant with a round faceted stone. In this module, you will use and combine the knowledge acquired throughout the entire program.
Flexible Schedule
The course takes place from Monday to Friday, and you can choose your sessions according to your availability from the following options:
morning session: 9:00–12:00,
afternoon session: 14:00–17:00,
full-day session: 9:00–17:00.
You can attend the course once or several times a week. The sessions are individually coordinated on an ongoing basis until you have completed all 120 hours of the program.
Course Price
The price of the complete 120-hour individual jewelry-making course is €3,000.Payment can also be made in up to 6 installments.
Enrollment Starting in October
Starting in October, we will begin accepting new participants. Since the education is conducted individually and we want to provide each participant with sufficient time, space, and mentoring, the number of available places is limited.
Enrollment is open until all available time slots are filled.
